Firecrackers Banned on Deepawali, only green crackers allow – Delhi Government

The Delhi Government announced its decision to impose a complete ban on the sale, production & storage of firecrackers for the third consecutive year ahead of winter months as it looks to formulate an action plan to combat air pollution in the city.

The government has also prohibited the sale of firecrackers through online marketing platforms.

The Delhi pollution control committee had placed similar restrictions in the past two years ahead of winter after a National Green Tribunal order in a National Green Tribunal order in December, 2020 directed the imposition of a complete ban on all type of fire crackers when AQI levels deteriorate to the Poor and worse categories.

Note : Safe AQI limit – As per the Indian Government, safe exposure is 0-100 ug/m3 (8 hours) and as per the US-EPA, it is 0-0.054 ppm.
