Difference between Bluetooth & Wi-Fi

The full name of Wi-Fi is ‘Wireless Fidelity‘. Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that uses radio waves to transfer data at high speed over short distances. It is commonly called Wireless LAN or Local Area Network.

Through this, various devices like computer, laptop, tablet, mobile. Printers, video cameras and electronic gaming consoles etc. are connected to the Internet and by creating a network we can exchange information with the help of these devices.

How Wi-Fi works

Wi-Fi technology involves a device that transmits a wireless signal. Usually this device is a hotspot or router, broadband and router are only for the internet connection coming from outside. The router connects to the Internet and converts information into radio waves. A Wi-Fi device connects to Wi-Fi signals in its environment and creates a small wireless signal area around itself. This is called Wi-Fi zone.

We can connect all the devices in this area via Wi-Fi. Devices like laptops, mobile printers, tablets etc. already have a wireless adapter installed. With the help of which all these devices easily get Wi-Fi signal, but the desktop does not have a wireless adapter, hence Wi-Fi is used in the desktop by installing an adapter through the USB port.

Use of Wi-Fi

Today, Wi-Fi is used almost everywhere to connect devices like smartphones, laptop computers etc. to the Internet. Since education is online, the role of Wi-Fi in home, school, college etc. is important. Wi-Fi is also used well in offices. All the systems in the office are connected to Wi-Fi. So that the work of the companies continues smoothly.

Benefits of Wi-Fi

  • In this, the device can be connected to the internet without any cable.
  • Easily remove and add any client to a Wi-Fi access point.
  • It is very easy to connect devices like computers and smartphones etc. to Wi-Fi.
  • Anyone with technical knowledge can connect their device to Wi-Fi.
  • The speed of Wi-Fi is much higher than mobile networks.
  • With the help of WiFi, multiple devices can be connected to the network simultaneously.

Difference between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

  • In terms of bandwidth, Bluetooth is low and Wi-Fi is high.
  • Bluetooth is used to share information between devices over short distances, while Wi-Fi is used to provide high-speed web access or the Internet.
  • The range of Bluetooth can be up to 10 meters and the range of Wi-Fi can be around 1000 meters.
  • Bluetooth has a frequency range of 2.400 GHz and 2.483 GHz and Wi-Fi has a frequency of 2.4 GHz and 5GHz.
  • Bluetooth is much simpler to use, as it only requires an adapter to connect each device, whereas Wi-Fi is a complex process, requiring additional wireless, hardware and software configuration. Pratiyogita Darpan, magazine
